Active acoustic cloaking and illusions of sound-hard bodies using the boundary element method

Acoustic cloaking has received significant interest due to the appealing ability render an object acoustically invisible. In a similar concept acoustic cloaking, illusions provide capability misrepresent field of object. Combining and with numerical discretization methods allow objects greater complexity be considered. This work presents active three-dimensional rigid objects. The boundary element method is utilized efficiently predict exterior domain. A multi-input/multi-output control system comprising monopole sources, error sensors, controller based on feedforward linear-quadratic regulator algorithm employed. Active simple corresponding sphere demonstrated for both non-decaying decaying incident fields. For same configuration but minimizing cost function different signals, are generated mimic presence within free field. Illusional fields also cube bird their size or orientation.
